Dream Lake Basin Trail Details
Don't expect a lake at Dream Lake Basin - in 2011, the park service breached and removed Dream Lake Dam, therefore draining the water that previously filled the lake. The basin is now being restored and planted with native vegetation. What used to be Dream Lake will, in the future, become Dream Meadow, as wildlflowers, grasses, and wildlife reclaim the area. The park staff is closely monitoring the area for regrowth, so wandering around the Basin is not allowed. However, hikers can still see the progress from the former lakeshore. The 1-mile round trip hike is a great option for families. You'll see plenty of wildflowers and perhaps even a few deer. Start at the Warner Valley trailhead (the same one used for Devil's Kitchen) and take a right at the junction at .4 miles. At the next intersection, at .6 miles, bear left. You'll cross a plank bridge and then climb a short distance to the edge of the basin.
