Boiling Springs Lake Trail Details
Boiling Springs Lake is a major hydrothermal feature in Warner Valley, along with the Devil's Kitchen. At 500 feet wide, the lake is the largest single active feature in the entire park and one of the largest hot lakes in the world. The water temperature is measured around 125 degrees Fahrenheit for the majority of the year. Boiling Lake is surrounded by mudpots and fumaroles, is milky green in color, and is always fizzing, bubbling, and even burping. The lake lies in a bowl-shaped basin with steep slopes, which naturally prevents visitors from getting too close. Once you've reached the lake, take the loop path around. If you choose, walk another two miles through the woods to Terminal Geyser. As with the rest of the hikes in Warner Valley, start at the Warner Valley trailhead. Turn right at the first intersection, left at the second, and begin the slight ascent towards Boiling Lake for a quick 1.6 mile hike.
