Moorten's Mill Details
A short hike from Cottonwood Spring leads through palo verde and desert willow trees to the remains of Moorten's Mill. During the 1930s, Chester Moorten built a five-stamp mill on the western side of Cottonwood Canyon, which sat on top of a concrete slab. The mill operated until 1950, although there's not much to see at the site today other than the slab, stone retaining walls and a few vats.
