Campground roads are unpaved. Sites are near large boulders and Joshua Trees; both hiking and rock climbing are popular, particularly at the nearby Real Hidden Valley area. Potable water is available at the west entrance, Indian Cove Ranger Station, Black Rock and Cottonwood campgrounds and the visitor center in Twentynine Palms. Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m to 6:00 a.m, and generator use is permitted only from 7:00-9:00 a.m., 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., and 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
