The Beatty Cutoff Details
It's not entirely obvious, but if you're driving into Death Valley National Park from Beatty, Nevada you need to turn off of Daylight Pass Road at Hell's Gate to get to the Furnace Creek Visitor Center. The turnoff onto the Beatty Cutoff (a.k.a. Beatty Road) is a left just past the information station and connects to Highway 190 near the Salt Creek Interpretive Center. Missed the turn? Don't panic: you can still take Daylight Pass Road through Mud Canyon to the intersection with Scotty's Castle Road, where you can turn right to head south on 190 to Furnace Creek.
