Saline Valley Dunes Details
The Saline Valley is remote, and the Saline Valley Dunes are even more so. The dunes are relatively low and cover a large area, so they can go unnoticed even by the few who make the long off-road journey here via Saline Valley Road. Unlike some other dunes, you can't sandboard here, but you can hike and camp in these dunes in the shadow of the Inyo Mountains in splendid (near) isolation. You also might want to check out some of the valley's other attractions, notably the series of natural hot springs that attract nude bathers, the remains of salt-mining operations, a dry lake bed, and a salt marsh that's a beacon for wildlife.
