Emigrant Canyon Road Details
The paved, 21-mile Emigrant Canyon Road may be the most accessible backcountry road in Death Valley National Park. Connecting to Highway 190 near the Emigrant Campground, Emigrant Canyon Road provides access to the Skidoo ghost town, Eureka Mine and Aguereberry Point, the Wildrose Campground and charcoal kilns, and the Thorndike and Mahogany Flat campgrounds. The road, which rises through 5,318-foot Emigrant Pass, sees especially heavy traffic in the summer because it leads to a cooler, higher altitude region of Death Valley, including the trailhead to the challenging hike to the summit of Telescope Peak and the less-strenuous but still rewarding Wildrose Peak hike.
