Chloride City Road Details

Begin at Daylight Pass Road, 3.4 miles east of Hell's Gate. The road extends 6.2 miles to Chloride City and 7.4 miles to Chloride Cliff. You can reach one of the earliest mining sites in Death Valley, then continue beyond the town site to views at Chloride Cliff. You'll need a high-clearance (8-plus inches of ground clearance) for the first 2.2 miles to Monarch Canyon spur road, then a 4WD is required for the next three miles due to steep, rutted sections. A 4WD is also needed on the two-mile spur into Chloride City. You'll also need a high-clearance vehicle on the final segment of the loop in Amargosa Valley.
