Ashford Mill Details
Miner Harry Ashford won a battle against competing claimants to his prospecting site, but despite taking more than $100,000 in ore from the Golden Treasure Mine, the Ashford Mill operations never proved profitable and shut down in 1915. Operations at the mine resumed sporadically over the next few decades, but nobody ever really made much money. A few remains of the mining operation still dot the Death Valley floor, just off Badwater Road.
