Artist's Drive is a one-way, 9-mile scenic loop drive off Badwater Road in the Furnace Creek area. It offers close-up views of the colorful Artist's Palette formation in the Black Mountains, caused by oxidation of different metals due to chemical weathering and hydrothermal action in Death Valley's distant volcanic past.
