Whittington Spring Details
Drinking the spring water in Hot Springs National park is perfectly safe at most locations, and there are jug fountains throughout the park where guests can drink or bottle spring water free of charge. Happy Hollow Spring, along with Whittington Spring, are cold-water springs, and each is a few yards away from its respective fountains. The sources for these two springs are different than the hot-water spring sources: Whittington Spring flows out of West Mountain, and Happy Hollow Spring flows out of North Mountain. The Arkansas Department of Health requires the water from these springs to be formally treated; an ozone filtration system has been deemed the least intrusive. Very little ozone is still in the water when it reaches the spigot, and visitors will not notice any taste.
