Rainbow Forest Details

The Rainbow Forest area of the park begins at the southern entrance station and includes the Rainbow Forest Museum. The Rainbow Forest gets its name from large deposits of multi-colored petrified wood. Visitors can access the area via the Giant Logs, Long Logs and Agate House Trails. The rainbow colors of the petrified wood found here are the result of impurities in the woods' quartz, such as iron, carbon and manganese.
