Grandview Trail Details
Actually classified as wilderness trail, this seldom-maintained trail leads sharply into the Canyon, offering access to Coconino Saddle and Horseshoe Mesa. The logs and steel bars in first half of the trail are the remains of the Last Chance Mine, and the mesa was once a area where Hopi gathered mineral paint, evidenced by the Native American ruins visible from the eastern side of the mesa. The trail is considered the toughest trail from the South Rim, often ascending sharply. It also has virtually no access to water.
