Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge Details
Seven mountain ranges with wide, bountiful valleys full of 275 different species of wildlife are featured at Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge focuses on the protection of the endangered Sonoran pronghorn, bighorn sheep and lesser long-nosed bat. Almost all of the 860,000-acre refuge is designated wilderness. Visitors can observe and photograph the wildlife while hiking the historic El Camino Del Diablo and Charlie Bell roads. A limited desert bighorn sheep hunt is offered every December.
