Chitina Ranger Station Details
The Chitina Ranger Station is a must stop for visitors in the park's south and west regions. The ranger station, housed in a log cabin built in 1910, has park exhibits, a theater, trip planning and backcountry information, road and weather updates, and permits. The ranger station is located in the town of Chitina at mile 33 on the Edgerton Highway. The town of Chitina also has more services including a post office, tire repair shop, hotel, and pay phone. Visitors should consider fueling up and collecting drinking water before heading into the park. The ranger station's operating hours are as follows, though subject to change based on weather and staffing: Summer (Memorial Day to Labor Day): Open Thursday through Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Fall/Winter/Spring (Labor Day to Memorial Day): Closed Ranger station phone number: (907) 823-2205
