Fishtrap Lake to Snipe Lake Route Details
Avid backpacker may want to opt for this one-way route for strenuous hiking through dense, tall brush, and wet, uneven terrain. The hiking eventually turns more moderate, passing through low brush and alpine terrain at higher elevations. Starting at Fishtrap Lake, plan on being dropped off at the far northeast end of the lake and start the strenuous climb due north for the most direct route to the alpine terrain; it may take several hours to get above the treeline. Once above the trees, your route options are endless in the alpine area between the two lakes. You may see blueberries in season, but do beware of moose, black bears, and possibly brown bears. You can also opt to be dropped off at the far southern end of Snipe Lake; it's an easier hike starting here than from Fishtrap Lake, but it is longer. To access the Fishtrap Lake to Snipe Lake Route, fly into Fishtrap Lake and out of Snipe Lake, or vice versa, depending on the route you choose.
