The Outer Coast Details
The Outer Coast of Glacier Bay is one of the wildest, most remote parts of the park. The few visitors who venture here are rewarded with once-in-a-lifetime views, with the incredible Fairweather and Saint Elias mountains forming a skyline along the coast. Most who do see this area do so via charter flights, which offer views of the mountains, bays, and river deltas from above. The only permanent community on the Outer Coast province is the village of Yakutat, with a population of about 800, mostly of Tlingit descent.
