Ullswater Details

Ullswater is the second-largest lake in the Lake District and offers multiple water-based recreational opportunities including paddling, sailing, boating and swimming. The lake is nine miles long and 3/4 mile wide, with a maximum depth of almost 200 feet. Although the shoreline along the entire northern portion of the lake is privately owned, there is limited public launching of sailboats allowed, as well as watercraft for rent. Facilities on the northern portion of the lake are centered at Pooley Bridge and the nearby Lakeland Boat Hire; at the southern end of the lake is Glenridding, which features the Glenridding Sailing Centre. The Ullswater Steamers offer 8-mile cruises down the lake, making multiple stops along the way. There's a lakeshore path along the southeast shore as well.
