This walk combines a moderately challenging jaunt through the Coniston area with an excursion on the steam yacht _Gondola_, which has been plying the waters of Coniston Water since 1859. Beginning at Coniston Pier, you'll steam to a jetty near the south end of the lake, then hike through Dodgson Wood, farm fields, and grassy hillsides as you slowly begin the way back north. You'll pass the onetime home of John Ruskin, and have the option of touring the grounds of the Brantwood Estate before reaching the jetty for a short ride on the Gondola back to Coniston Pier.
