Trunk Bay Details
One of the most beautiful, most famous, most photographed, and most crowded beaches on the island (it will get 1,000 or more guests during the busiest days), Trunk Bay is also the only pay beach on the island. Admission fees ($4 for adults) go to a good place though: Trunk Bay is the only beach in the park to have a lifeguard. There are other amenities too: showers, restrooms, changing rooms, picnic tables, a snack bar and gift shop, and an underwater snorkeling trail. It's believed that Trunk Bay earned its name from the huge leatherback sea turtles -- which are so big some can be mistaken for steamer trunks -- that visit every year. Plan to arrive early, as the moderately sized parking area can get crowded.
