Francis Bay Trail Details
This two-part trail includes a wheelchair-accessible boardwalk providing access to a beautiful corner of the park, where birdwatching is fabulous. The boardwalk -- all 650-feet of it -- runs alongside a salt pond and includes a little wooden pier, one of several great places to spot birds. This segment of the trail is a half-mile round trip and can take anywhere from a few minute to a few hours to complete -- it all depends on how many birds you spot. (In all seriousness, this section will only take 15 minutes to complete.) The second section of the trail is 0.8 miles round-trip and passes by the ruins of the Francis Bay Estate House, offering good views of the salt pond and another nice vantage from which you can watch for birds.
