Bordeaux Mountain Road Details
Bordeaux Mountain Road, or Highway 108, connects Centerline Road (Highway 10) with East End Road (Highway 107). It's a 3.1-mile trek through the mountains via a narrow, unpaved road. Generally this road is in good repair, but when it isn't you'll want a four-wheel drive vehicle; check road conditions with park staff before you set out for a drive. This isn't a drive that's about great views, but rather a way to access the highest point on St. John, Bordeaux Mountain. The Bordeaux Peak Trail, an easy hike that gains roughly 77 feet from the road, will let you bag this peak with ease. Just east of the peak trail is the Bordeaux Mountain Trail, a tough hike that climbs 1,100 feet up the mountain from Lameshur Bay Road. This 1.4 mile trail that leads only to Bordeaux Mountain Road, so to reach the peak there's still a half-mile roadside walk and that final 77-foot push to the top. If you're driving Bordeaux Mountain Road, be aware of hikers.
