Upper Bankhead Details

Hike along old coal mine shafts to reach the basin of Cascade Mountain. Upper Bankhead was once the residential section of the old coal mining town that was located here. After picnicking, you may want to embark on the C-Level Cirque moderate trail that travels 4.2 kilometers (2.6 miles) one-way along old coal mine shafts to the basin of Cascade Mountain. For a less-strenuous hike, take the interpretive trail through an old coal mining town. The town was shut down in 1922, but its foundation remains for exploration by visitors today.
