Sunshine Road Details

OVERVIEW: Sunshine Road doesn't play around - the climb starts nearly immediately and continues to rise via steep ramps along the way to its end point at the Borgeau parking lot, where the base of the Sunshine gondola can be found. Turn around and enjoy the downhill back to the route's starting point at the Sunshine Ski Area Road, 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) west of the Town of Banff on the Trans-Canada Highway. Two things to watch for on this route: the narrow road shared with traffic, and bears! Be sure to follow the park's rules and regulations to make the most of your ride: be bear aware; ride on designated trails; avoid riding during extreme conditions; help preserve the trails' quality; know your limits; yield to other riders; and, of course, leave no trace. **Trail Type**: Out and Back **Difficulty**: Strenuous **Distance**: 16.4 kilometers roundtrip (10.2 miles)
