Found on the western end of the Bow Valley Parkway, Morant's Curve is said to be for tourists and madmen. Towards the start of the Bow Valley Parkway from Lake Louise, Morant's Curve was used to entice people from around the world to explore the "Canadian Alps," and the Canadian Pacific Railway brought in guides from Switzerland to lead "madmen" - and women - up the area's peaks. C. Schreiber, a Canadian Pacific Railway engineer, is quoted as saying, "If I mistake it not, it will be a great resort for tourists and madmen who like climbing mountains at the risk of breaking their necks." Today, ornithologists enjoy Morant's Curve for the number of Harlequin ducks and American Dippers who frequent the rocks on the river bottom, which host insect larvae, which in turn are food for the birds.
