Wildlife Viewing

Glacier Bay National Park offers almost unparalleled wildlife viewing opportunities. With one-fifth of the park comprised of a marine environment and all of the park's land within 30 miles of the coastline, the meeting of mountain and maritime environments produces a biologically rich ecosystem. On the water, you can paddle past puffins, sea otters, whales, porpoises, seals, and sea lions. Hike along rocky shores where the cliffs are speckled with the nests of seabirds; the coastline also is a habitat for land animals like moose, bears, wolves, mountain goats, marmots, and porcupines.
