Florida City, Fla. Details

Just south of Homestead, Florida City was incorporated in 1914, and by 1922 had grown to a population of 800. South of the town was the largest Ice Plant in the state and a lumber mill; however most of the town's economy came from farming. Florida City has only continued to grow and is home to both lodging and dining chains, so you can expect to find some creature comforts like Starbucks or a Best Western here. Florida City has some opportunities for shopping, too, including a number of outlets and stores located in open-air malls. There are also a number of outdoor parks for those looking for a good spot to eat lunch or relax, as well as indoor activities like the Florida Pioneer Museum.
