Lock 37 Details
Dating to 1825, this original Ohio & Erie Canal lock remained in operation for the entire span of the canal's history until it was abandoned in 1913. The lock's spillway provided water power for nearby Wilson Mill. The lock itself is about 110 feet long and has a 90-foot lock chamber; look for remnants of the goose neck straps that once held the door posts to the lock walls, and the still-intact mitre gates that let boats in and out of the lock.
