Crater Peak Trail Details
Start at the Vidae Falls Picnic Area off of East Rim Drive, three miles east of Park Headquarters. The trail is 3.2 miles one-way and winds up Vidae Ridge, through hemlock and fir forest. In the last .6 miles the pitch increases as you switchback up a spur trail that takes you to Crater Peak, with views of Klamath Lake to the southeast (this hike does not offer views of Crater Lake). The hike is considered moderate to strenuous, with roughly 750 feet of elevation gain overall, and takes about three and a half hours to complete the round trip.
