Mount Scott is the highest point in Crater Lake National Park. You can hike to the top of the mountain via a strenuous, 2.5-mile trail (one way) that climbs 1,500-feet to a historic fire tower lookout, with views of Crater Lake. The trail takes about 3.5 hours. At the trailhead to Mount Scott, you can also enjoy the Whitebark Pine Picnic area, a nice place to relax before or after your hike, or take a break from the drive around the rim. The picnic tables are tucked into a stand of, well, whitebark pine trees. The area also has pit toilets.
