For an interesting hike focused on geological history, take the Door Trail, named after a break in the Badlands Wall. The trailhead is at the northern end of the Window and Door parking area, which is located about four miles from the Ben Reifel Visitor Center. You'll walk on a boardwalk for the first hundred yards before hitting the trail, which passes through the Wall and into an area of rugged and eroded canyons. Water, closed-toed shoes and hats are recommended for this hike. There are restrooms available about 1,000 feet south of the Door trailhead.
