The beauty of Badlands may be experience through a variety of designated trails for day hikes and backcountry exploration. The rangers at the Ben Reifel Visitor Center can provide you more information on which trails match your skill level. Easy hiking trails include the Window Trail, Fossil Exhibit Trail, and the Door Trail. Moderate hiking trails include the Notch Trail, Medicine Root Loop, Castle Trail, and Cliff Shelf. Features range from canyon meandering to log ladders and are sure to include dramatic views all around. More extreme hikes include the Saddle Pass Trail, which climbs to an overlook of the White River Valley.
