Basic Information
Badlands National Park operates around the clock, every day. Entrance fees are required throughout the year. Seasonal or severe weather may lead to road closures within the park, so it's wise to verify road conditions ahead of your journey. Caution is advised when driving during winter due to potentially icy and slippery roads. The Ben Reifel Visitor Center is open daily, except on federal winter holidays, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with longer hours of operation for the summer (7 p.m. close) and spring and fall seasons (5 p.m. close). The White River Visitor Center is typically open during the summer season and offers staffed information desks, exhibits, restrooms, picnic tables, and water. It is located on the Pine Ridge Reservation and focuses on the cultural significance of the Badlands in Lakota heritage. Nearby facilities include the Cedar Pass Lodge and the Badlands Inn and Campground, open during the summer season. Services include rental cabins, a restaurant, and a gift shop.
