Basic Information

Badlands National Park charges entrance fees of $30 for private vehicles, $25 for motorcycles, and $15 for individuals, valid for 7 days. The Annual Park Pass, costing $55, allows a private vehicle access for a year. The "America the Beautiful" pass, at $80, offers wider access to federal lands. Fee-free days include Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the first day of National Park Week, Juneteenth, The Great American Outdoors Act day, National Public Lands Day, and Veterans Day, promoting access without charge. Starting in 2023, Badlands National Park transitioned to a cashless system for entrance and permit fees, accepting only mobile or electronic payments. Visitors have the option to buy entrance passes beforehand via Recreation.gov or its app, offering a digital pass for convenience. America the Beautiful passes are still valid for entry, provided they're accompanied by proper ID.
