Shenandoah's scenic thoroughfare, Skyline Drive, is the park's only public road and offers 105 miles of pristine landscapes. While views change throughout the year, fall is traditionally the busiest season, with an influx of visitors coming to view fall foliage in the park. The other distinct seasons of the year offer equally incredible vistas, from spring growth to summer vibrance as well as the serene, snow-covered winter views. Skyline Drive takes about three hours to complete from end to end without stops or traffic (speed limit is 35 mph); however, plan for more time to include stops and activities. Shenandoah National Park is accessible from four different points along Skyline Drive: from Front Royal near Rt. 66 and 340; from Thornton Gap at Rt. 211; from Swift Run Gap at Rt. 33; and from Rockfish Gap at Rt. 64 and Rt. 250. Mileposts mark distance along the road and are essential for navigating points of interest and activities: all park maps and information reference mileposts for navigation. Milepost zero starts at Front Royal, Va., in the north, and the road ends at milepost 105 at Skyline Drive's southernmost point near Waynesboro, Va.
