There are two drive-in campgrounds and two primitive wilderness campsites available in Haleakala. Both the drive-in campgrounds, Kipahulu and Hosmer Grove are available on a first-come-first-served basis, with no reservations taken. Reservations are necessary, however, for either of the two wilderness campsites, Holua and Paliku. Campers can pick up permits at the Headquarters Visitor Center between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. up to one day in advance of their hike.
