Lock 39 Trailhead Details
Although it is one of the 44 locks on the Ohio & Erie Canal, Lock 39 is the first (or last) of the locks found within the park. Like many others along the canal, it was in operation between 1827 and 1913 and lowered (or lifted) canal boats 9 ft, above or below the previous lock. As the last canal included in the park's boundary it is also the endpoint of the 20-mile Towpath Trail that leads south into Cuyahoga Valley. This medium sized parking lot has approximately 40 parking spaces.
