Superior Bathhouse Details

The Superior, the northernmost bathhouse on Bathhouse Row, opened in 1916 and was built on the site of the original Superior Baths that opened in the 1880s. The smallest bathhouse on the row, it's only 11,000 square feet, and its brick, classical-revival style was quite different from its Victorian contemporaries. It was named Superior not only to denote the type of service its clientele could expect, but also perhaps to appeal to guests from the upper Midwest. Superior also offered the lowest rates, and only basic hydrotherapy, mercury, and massage services. While the original bathhouse closed in 1983, the building today holds the [Superior Bathhouse Brewery](http://www.superiorbathhouse.com/), a craft-brew tasting room and on-site brewery. There's a lunch and dinner menu, with a variety of options, from black-eyed pea hummus to BBQ pork sliders.
