Naches Peak Loop Trail Details
This easy 3.5-mile loop, which includes the Tipsoo Lake Trail, offers stunning views of Mount Rainier's eastern flank, wildflower meadows, lakes and, in the late summertime, tons of huckleberries. The trail starts outside of park boundaries, meaning you may see leashed dogs along the way. If you bring your pooch, remember to turn around as soon as you reach the park boundary. To access the trailhead, park at Tipsoo Lake, about .5 miles west of Chinook Pass on State Route 410. Head clockwise on this loop for the best views of Mount Rainier. The parking area has pit toilets and picnic tables. Leave the picnic area at Tipsoo Lake and head northeast around the lake to Chinook Pass, following the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), until you reach a parking area for the PCT. Then head south along the east side of Naches Peak for 1.6 miles to a junction with a good snack spot and views overlooking Dewey Lakes. Continue northwest along the west side of the peak to make your way back to your car at Tipsoo Lake.
