Grove of the Patriarchs Details

The easy, 1.3-mile Grove of the Patriarchs Trail begins just northwest of the Stevens Canyon Entrance on the park's southeast side. Follow the trail north along the Ohanapecosh River and then cross a suspension bridge at .5 miles to enter the grove. Continue on a .5-mile loop to get an up-close look at the area's magnificent old-growth trees-in fact, the park's oldest trees. Here, you'll find ancient Douglas fir, western hemlock, and western red cedar, some of which reach 300 feet high and have been around for nearly 1,000 years. NOTE: Grove of the Patriarchs is closed to all public entry effective November 2021, and until further notice, due to significant damage from flooding.
