Pu'u'ula'ula Details
Pu'u'ula'ula is the highest point on Haleakala -- in other words, the real "summit" of the volcano. Though it stands at 10,023 feet, the summit (and the rest of Haleakala) is slowly shrinking under the force of erosion. Hawaiian for "Red Hill," Pu'u'ula'ula looms above the park's summit parking lot and features an observation building with a wraparound deck -- ideal for watching Haleakala's famous sunrises.
