There are two main entrances to Petrified Forest National Park, connecting the roughly 28-mile road that runs between them. The North Entrance Station is located near the park's main visitor center. Nearby attractions include the Painted Desert Inn National Historic Landmark, Tawa Point and the other scenic viewpoints onto the Painted Desert, and the marker for Historic Route 66. The North Entrance is accessed from Interstate 40, Exit 311, approximately 21 miles west of Holbrook, and 72 miles west of Gallup, NM.
