The south entrance to Petrified Forest National Park is right off Highway 180. The road continues on the northwest to Holbrook, Ariz., and to the southeast toward St. Johns. An old section of Highway 180 also runs through the Rainbow Forest; segments can be hiked, and the section from Petrified Forest Road to the park's eastern boundary is open to mountain biking.
