Sometimes called the Summer Visitor's Center, this is the best place to start exploring the Park if you visit in warmer months. It is the main information center for Acadia. Inside you can enjoy a free, 15-minute audio-video presentation on the Park's history and attractions. A large, 3-D map of the island provides a good sense of the lay of the land and can help you determine your itinerary. Rangers and staff members are on hand to answer your questions and help you plan your visit to the Park and surrounding areas. You can also get guidebooks and maps here, and history buffs will enjoy browsing through the Hulls Cove bookstore. Information on guided hikes and Junior Ranger programs can be found in the free Beaver Log newspaper. Hulls Cove is open April 15 to October 31. If you're a winter visitor, head instead to Park Headquarters on Route 233, west of Bar Harbor. The Winter Visitor's Center is stocked with maps and guides and also has restrooms and a bookstore.
