Triple Lakes Trail Details

Most of the trails in the entrance area are pretty easy: this isn't one of them. The Triple Lakes Trail is the longest marked trail in the park, running for 9.5 miles and crossing a pair of bridges and offering overlooks on the three lakes that give the trail its name. Expect the hike along sections of gravel, native soil and rocks, and planks to take 5 hours each way, with some steeps (up to 20% grade) and a 1,000-foot elevation gain. You can do it in a day, however, thanks to the long daylight hours during the arctic summer. Access the Triple Lakes Trail from the McKinley Station Trail or from the pullout just north of the Nenana River Bridge (mile 231.5 of the George Parks Highway/Highway 3).
