Sanctuary River Details
The Sanctuary River is one of the main waterways in Denali, passing under the Park Road just west of the Sanctuary River Campground. Fed by glaciers, the braided river is bordered by gravel bars; the Upper Sanctuary River is a good hiking route for seeing wildlife. The river also is a popular destination for packrafting by hikers who want to carry inflatable boats into the backcountry and explore the river.
