With hundreds of interesting formations and ever changing light, capturing images is a fantastic reason to visit Arches. Low angle light, shadows and clouds add depth to photographs. The best photos are usually taken at dawn or dusk when the red rocks glow. Try to limit camera time from 10 AM to 3 PM when the consistent lightening is less interesting. Inclement weather may depress some visitors, but photographers delight in a desert storm or cloudy afternoons. These times offer the photographer opportunities to capture rare and intriguing images. Popular morning shots include Landscape Arch, The Tree Gossips, Double O Arch and Wolfe Ranch. Late afternoon masterpieces are often shot at the Fiery Furnace with a wide angle lens, deep in Devils Garden and the extremely popular Delicate Arch (best photographed in winter when the light is evenly cast).
