Elephant Hill Details

Accessible only by foot or extreme 4-wheel drive is the aptly-named Elephant Hill in the Needles section of Canyonlands. Do not attempt to drive this road without a high clearance vehicle and plenty of experience – towing fees can easily exceed $1,000 and you won't be able to call for help on your mobile device if you need a tow. For many, the drive through multi-layered stupas is the highlight of this destination. The waterless Elephant Hill picnic area is a hub of trails that lead south into some of the most remote regions of the park. Beyond Elephant Hill is another 21 miles of jeep trails to explore.
