Double O Arch Details

Hike along spines of fins and along sandy trails to reach the Double O Arch, not to be confused with the Double Arch, also located in Arches National Park. Allow 2.5 to 3 hours for this 4.2 mile roundtrip exploration. Beginning in the Devils Garden Parking area. The occasionally narrow ledges on the route are best navigated in mild conditions with no ice on the trail or scorching desert sun above. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen to enjoy the colors and breathtaking views as you hike through the crimson rocks to the arch on top of an arch. Getting to Double O Arch is half the fun. Pass Landscape, Partition and Wall Arches as you scramble your way through the rocky labyrinth to Double O. Wear good footwear as you become part of the desertscape. The sandstone fins formed by erosion along parallel joints are taller here than elsewhere in the park. Continue your hike to Dark Angel, another half mile or return to the parking lot on the primitive loop trail.
