Located on the site of a Miwok indian village, The hotel opened in 1927 and is famous for its National Park rustic design and incredible views of Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, and Glacier Point. Look closely at the hotel's exterior and you may notice that what appears to be wood is, in fact, poured concrete -- a feature designed to prevent fires. You can stay in one of the hotel's 99 rooms or 24 cottages, but it's not cheap: expect to pay $450 and up per night. Either way, you should take time to walk through the hotel and explore its vast yet welcoming lobby, visit the gift shop, or eat in the dining room -- where the amazing views come free with your meal.
